Thank you for responding. I'll try to do a better job of being as specific as I can.

At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem; This doesn't happen every time, but the way I see it it shldn't happen at all. I boot up. After logging in, the mouse cursor's in the middle of the screen, as it shld be. 2. the behavior you expected; I expected the mouse cursor to act normal =)

3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible); When I try to navigate my mouse cursor, it "skitters" all over the screen. When I say "skittering", I mean the mouse cursor moves abt like a drop of water on a red hot skillet. I have zero control over it. I can't even navigate the cursor to the shutdown/restart in the upper right screen. And as it skitters abt, it opens apps like crazy. Dozens and dozens. It stops, of course, when I stop trying to navigate it. I'm running a Sony VAIO with dual 2.0 ghz processors, 4 gigs of ram. My hardware's good. But there's something to be said abt the mouse cursor's behavior. Again, this is occasional, maybe 4 or 5 times out 10 bootups. Hope this is more useful. And thanks again for responding. Means a lot. ----- Original Message -----

You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
