This is likely a duplicate of bug #162090. lspci will confirm or deny this.
Unfortunately this device does not get auto-configured nicely (not sure if this is resolvable), but manually inserting an xorg.conf entry gets the touchpad to a working state with the 8.14 Hardy kernel.
