CypherDelic , your bug says that your joystick can still crash X. Can you check that you installed the last update of xserver-xorg-input-evdev (and restarted X/rebooted)?
Just type :
sudo dpkg -p xserver-xorg-input-evdev | grep Version
You should see Version: 1:2.0.99+git20080912-0ubuntu4 or higher.
If X doesn't crash anymore, can you edit Bug #284951 to remove the fact that it crashes X (it would just confuse bug triagers / developpers)? Else, it means this bug needs to be reopened.
Thanks.
