I have just checked here. With the new xorg packages I can use the /dev/input/by-id entry but not the
/dev/input/by-path entry. (I have a serial keyboard and mouse and another USB set). The error I get in the log file is the same described in comment <a href=https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/173833/comments/19>#19</a> above.
The new manual page uses the /dev/input/by-path entry in the example. So this look like a bug. Can anyone confirm this?
