Totem-player display setting has a button "reset to defaults" and here with me this sets the color slider to pretty much exactly 50%. Remaining differences (rounding) are not visible.
Don't know details of totem, but guess it stores default setting. So as the scale is not adjusted to have neutral setting on 50% it should be fine once you have used button "reset to defaults".
