Confirmed -- this was a problem in Ubuntu 7.10 and still is a problem in 8.04.
When Flurry hangs, the machine becomes unusable. If you then ssh into the machine you will find TWO flurry processes spinning at 100% CPU. Killing them both makes the machine usable again (able to unlock the screen).
