I respectfully disagree. xresprobe is essential for the following actions:
- recognize video hardware with the command sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
- name video hardware with the command sudo ddcprobe
In Edgy and Feisty, xresprobe was missing too (but in Gutsy it was present, luckily). In the days of Edgy and Feisty, this caused many video related problems which were posted on the Ubuntu forums.
