Bug Description

Steps to repeat:

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback
sudo apt-get install xrdp
echo "gnome-session --session=gnome-fallback" > .xsession
sudo /etc/init.d/xrdp restart

Expected results:

A working Gnome session.

Actual results:

Successful logon followed by grey screen.

lsb output:

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release: 14.04

apt-cache policy xrdp
xrdp:
  Installed: 0.6.0-1
  Candidate: 0.6.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 0.6.0-1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Also try

sudo apt-get install xfce4
echo xfce4-session >~/.xsession
sudo service xrdp restart

then access from a Windows machine. This gives the xfce but this has severe key mapping problems.

http://c-nergy.be/blog/?p=5305 gives another user's experiences. There are many other similar reports. This seems to be a widespread problem.

This has been tested running on several machines with different hardware.

I have multiple test rigs and am willing to test a patch.
