Mine says:

VTInitModifiers
meta_left mask 0x8 is Mod1 modifier
alt_right mask 0x8 is Mod1 modifier
num_lock mask 0x10 is Mod2 modifier
meta_right mask 0x40 is Mod4 modifier

Which looks sane as far as I can tell. I don't think that this helps
much, but it seems that gnome-terminal still handels this correctly.
Let me know if I can provide any more interesting data.
