In my case, Ubuntu has detected 1280x1024 as resolution for my monitor and set it in xorg.conf and the monitor correctly shows this 1280x1024 resolution. (except it's not the right one)
Of course I can manually update the xorg.conf and change the value to 1440x900 and it will work perfectly but I think as these monitor are becoming more and more common it should be great to have this monitor correctly detected.
