I am using a laptop with i815 display using current X.org in Xubuntu. I found there is flickering problem of i815 display in X Window after suspend or hibernation of Xubuntu, and I guess it would be the same for other versions of Ubuntu. It is perfectly ok before any suspend or hibernation after entering the X Window. The flickering effect seems the same as the i810 driver was introduced for the XFree86 at the beginning (some years ago), where later patch was introduced to remove the effect.

I am not a Ubuntu or X Window display driver programmer, but I would guess the problem may occur because there is no related hardware (re)initialization after suspend or hibernation, as the problem disappears after I restart the X Window. If that is the case, somebody may have to rethink the mechanism for the suspend and hibernation functions of ubuntu.
