Thanks, yes many have reported this problem with ubuntu not detecting the monitor h sync and v refresh rates, requiring them to be manually specified.
Thanks for attaching all the requested files; glad to hear manually specifying the rates provides an ok work around for now. Another workaround is to simply move aside the xorg.conf file - in Feisty xorg itself can detect the monitor settings, and might be able to detect them better than ubuntu's installer does.
I'll mark this as a dupe of 3731, which seems to be the earliest report of this issue.
