This bug is marked as duplicate; not by me. I just have a quick bit of input before conversation is moved to the other bug context. I just looked over your error report and found that it could not find the compiz settings in your home directory. Can you create a new user by command line and see if they can log in properly. Also another thing to try is booting into failsafe settings in grub.
