@Tony, Your edid seems to be correct, and X should use it without problems.

Video mode setting code for the OS splash screen is in the kernel, and
we hope it will be solved when (and if) the mode setting code is moved
to the kernel. Regardless of that, current kernel code could be
patched, but I'm not currently looking into that.
