I'd be willing to bet that if you check your xorg.conf files the refresh rate on the modelines is too high. For example my settings used to be:

 modeline "1920x1200@60"

Editing the xorg.conf so that the only modeline available is:

 modeline "1920x1200@57"

make this problem disappear. Hopefully it will work for you guys too.
