I am using a IOGEAR GUC2020DW6 and a Sony Vaio Intel i5 7 series.
I have a Samsung 32" 2560x1440 and the usb is running a 27" 1920x1080
I notice that the blinking has something to do with the difference of resolution, because, there were a few times when xrandr reported my Screen0 to be 4480x1080 and the resulting visual effect was a distorted difference on the 32" monitor.
However, everything above the 1080 resolution border displayed just fine.... and the cursor DID NOT BLINK, the desktop looked natural as it should.
I should also mention that I am limited to running the 32" monitor with a custom resolution of 2560x1440x44.00Hz due to a limiting factor of my laptop video architecture, it wont run at 60Hz, windows or linux.
Therefore I suspect the answer lies somewhere in between.
Same for me, Ubuntu 14.04LTS
