I can confirm this bug with two different plantronics usb headsets a blackwire c-620m and a blackwire c-420m.

pressing the volume buttons triggers a lack of mouse clickability and unplugging the headset restores mouse functions.

this is on a fully updated precise install.

also this bug is marked as a duplicate of #1007525 but that bug referers to a different hardware however the problem is the same , bad input device handling is somehow making the volume buttons block mouse clicks.
