Was the backtrace you gave earlier from between two intrepid boxes? Unfortunately it only shows that the xserver is in a loop so doesn't give good insight into what's gone wrong.

Hmm, well nothing is making itself evident to me and I'm not certain what other debugging could be done. I guess next step is for this to go upstream.
