I can confirm that this bug appears in Ubuntu 10.04, Lucid Lynx. Oddly enough, I did not encounter it in 9.10. Anyway, for professional reasons, I generally switch between three different keyboard layouts: USA, USA International (with dead keys), and Latin American. I have configured GNOME to change the keyboard layout when I press Shift + Caps Lock. However, since upgrading to Lucid, the keyboard configuration will randomly switch without me entering the key sequence. Thus far, I have been unable to isolate a single common key sequence or action that triggers this change reliably, although I have found that using the mouse to select an item from a GNOME panel frequently triggers it. I have examined the hotkey settings, and found nothing that would explain why the layout keeps changing. As per the previous request, I am attaching a file containing my hardware profile and X log to this message.
