If the EDID and mode info is being logged repeatedly that would usually mean the monitor is getting disconnected and reconnected. So please try:

  (a) Fully unplugging and re-plugging the monitor into the system. Make sure it's got a good connection.
  (b) A different VGA cable, if you have one.

It's strange that the messages would correlate with any app usage though...
