1) Could you please attach a screenshot or screencast of the flickering via https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Screencast ?
2) Could you please cross post this issue upstream to DisplayLink Support following their guide at http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/757047-how-can-i-report-ubuntu-issues-to-displaylink ? While it may end up being root caused to a Ubuntu issue, more eyes on the problem wouldn't hurt here.
