Well, still an issue, I am using Kaffeine now, stilla have VLC in case things get fixed.
I am using Lubuntu 12.04, I can't upgrade at the moment.
I installed xorg-server-core-dbg and dev. rebooting, open VLC (crashing), and then typing what you said, this is what i get from the bug colecting command:
apport-collect -p xorg-server 1024411
Package xorg-server not installed and no hook available, ignoring
No succes there.
