I have this problem, too. As far as I can tell:
- Package xorg-input-joystick is uninstallable (it's marked as 'replaces xserver-xorg' if that's what does it), thus - the mouse driver gets the device (I guess).

etc.
Also, it would be nice to have QT-SixA in the repo for the PS3's gamepads in particular.
