Bug Description

Hi,
I cannot open subtitles in xine (haven't tried with gxine). When I try to open subtitle file via Open->Subtitle-> select a subtitle file -> click on Select , the "Open Subtitle" windows stays open and nothing more happens. I can then only close xine vie right cklick on xine at the gnome panel and click Close.
I tried to load .txt and .sub subtitle file and both the same result. While the Open Subtitle window was stuck and the xine was unable to cotrol, the movie was still played in the movie window.
I tried these steps several time and allways the same result. At the end I was successfull with another movie and .srt subtitle file - the .srt subtitle file was loaded correctly.

Hi there
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the development branch of Ubuntu, Hardy Heron?

Thanks in advance.

The subtitle on "Movie Player" (Totem) is not loading too. I've tried with a .srt file with the same name as the .avi file e the subtitles doesn't appears.
Put my .srt file as an attach.

Since it's been a very long time since any additional info was added to this bug, I'm just checking to see if this is still an issue, and find out what additional work should be done on this bug.

Hi,

are you guys crazy? This goes round and round the same way:

Ubuntu: Is there still a bug?
Me: Yes, there is still a bug.
Ubuntu: Is there still a bug?
Me: Yes, there is still a bug.
Ubuntu: Is there still a bug?
Me: Yes, there is still a bug.
...

I just don't care about this bug anymore, if I need to load a bubtitle file I use another player.

Good luck to you:)

Same problem here. Xine freezes when opening srt files, however it works when using command line mrl to load .srt with movie file.

When i load "subtitles.srt" with movie file using following cmd it just works without any problems:
$ xine movie.mkv::subtitles.srt

Xine UI freezes only when trying to select (load) subtitles using menus "Open -> Subtitles...":

$ xine movie.mkv
Right click -> "open" -> "subtitles..." -> select file and then press "select" -> ui freezes.
