2009-02-10 14:26:48 Andreas Zitzelsberger totem: statusexplanation We are closing this bug report because it lacks the information we need to investigate the problem, as described in the previous comments. Please reopen it if you can give us the missing information, and don't hesitate to submit bug reports in the future. To reopen the bug report you can click on the current status, under the Status column, and change the Status back to "New". Thanks again! This is a bug in xine, and it's still in Intrepid. It also occurs in Kaffeine and xine-ui. It has nothing to do with Compiz / KWin desktop effects (i checked), but is related to the size of the playback window. It might also be linked to the proprietary Nvidia drivers but I doubt that. I rather suspect this is caused by a very ineffective method of rendering the subtitles, as the processor usage of the X server jumps every time a subtitle is displayed) I've reported this to the xine bug tracker: http://bugs.xine-project.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206 If anybody experiencing this bug does not use the proprietary nvidia driver, please report so at http://bugs.xine-project.org/show_bug.cgi?id=206.

Closed again as this is definitely an issue with the proprietary nvidia drivers. I've reported this issue on the nvnews forum: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1929108
