Thanks a lot for your advice ! As you said I installed xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi, then I run "xset fp rehash" and everything works as it should !
Thanks again

Objet: [Bug 1920125] Re: size of the text displayed in the xfig window

I fear, that this are two different issues:
a) some locale based issue
b) some font based issue

For the locale problem, please check the output of command "locale",
"locale -a" the value of environment variable XFIG_LC_TYPE and have look
at /usr/share/doc/xfig/README.Debian chapter "UTF-8 Support". Maybe you
have to create some more locale files by using "dpkg-reconfigure
locales" and add some languages.

The font issue may depend on some font packages not beeing installed. Usually it should be enough to install the package gsfonts-x11, which provides vector fonts of the requested Adobe fonts.
If your fonts are 12pt for all fonts, you may also have forgotten to install xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi. For a deeper dive into this issue, you should install the mentioned 3 packages and run "xset fp rehash" after this (or restart X11 or your PC).
If the issue persists, run "xset q" and show me the "Font Path" displayed by it.

Title:
size of the text displayed in the xfig window

Status in xfig package in Ubuntu:
New

Bug description:
Release Ubuntu 20-10
Package: xfig 1:3.2.7b-2

1) Command line in a terminal: xfig generates error messages in the
terminal:

locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSays AGES to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_ALL to default locale: No such file or directory
Warning: locale not supported by C library, locale unchanged

2) The xfig windows opens normally

3) If I need a character string it is displayed always in size 12 in
the window, whatever the choosen fontsize. However the text is
correctly exported to ps and pdf.

Expected results:
display should be the same as .ps or .pdf exported file.

N.B. This problem didn’t occur with older versions of xfig and ubuntu
