Unfortunately there is still nothing I can use to identify and fix the bug. Chris, could you please get xfce4-volumed from bzr and build and install it with --enable-debug, and then attach a gdb trace as soon as it takes 100% CPU again? I would at least need to know what function causes this to can identify the problem.
