Comment 56 for bug 90261

i recently upgraded to xfce 4.8 running ubuntu 10.04 and encountered this issue. i can not add mixer to panel by adding items or by dragging it on the panel. however, a simple workaround which worked for me was to create a launcher item in the panel which runs /usr/bin/xfce4-mixer.
