I have updated mutter to a pending fixed version from ppa:vanvugt/mutter (https://launchpad.net/~vanvugt/+archive/ubuntu/mutter which aims to fix https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/2059847) and rebooted.
