While running workrave and pulseaudio, whenever workrave plays a sound it creates a new playback stream in pulseaudio which does *not* go away. In padevchooser's volume controller fiddler I can see a huge list of workrave playback stream controls.

The result of this is no more sound can be played until pulse is killed and restarted, and my logs rapidly fill with messages:
