I have tried "Full" and "Emulation" on 44.1 and 48kHz and I have choppy audio in Spotify right from the start in all these combinations.

Standard Karmic version of wine 1.1.31-0ubuntu3
Standard Karmic version of pulseaudio 0.9.19-0ubuntu4

I remember reading something about power management in pulseaudio giving problems in karmic; I'll investigate that and post back if I get anywhere. I didn't try Spotify under jaunty so can't compare, sorry.

Several other apps crackle occasionally for me now but didn't under jaunty; but Spotify is unlistenable.
