Isn't it acceptable to just use either the aoss wrapper or the padsp command with your wine app? I've been doing it for a couple of years now, I think, and I've had very few issues indeed. If the wine devs could somehow make wine take into account the presence of pulseaudio in a system so we didn't have to use these commands, that'd be great. I don't know for sure about things like audio latency with pulseaudio using this method, but from my own experiences, it shouldn't be a big deal at all, since I've been using pulse for both native and wine multiplayer games for some time now.
