I've just upgraded my amd64 desktop from 16.04 to 16.10 beta. It had a working wine1.6 installation. Packages were removed and upgraded as expected. Now on wine-stable 1.8.4-1ubuntu2.
There are still some NBS binaries to be removed:
$ apt-cache policy wine wine: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1:1.6.2-0ubuntu15 Version table: 1:1.6.2-0ubuntu15 500 500 http://za.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/universe amd64 Packages
