I have this activated by default, and it works fine for me. When I create
my Online Account for Facebook, I have to login with user/pass and then get
asked about the 2nd factor auth. I then proceed to the app authorization
screen.
So in short. it works for me.
Can you describe the steps your are following to reproduce the problem?
