Changing the font path (-fp) may help.
Like Stefan, my Xvnc started failing with thousands of "Transport endpoint is not connected" errors. Downgrading didn't help. What was happening is that Xvnc kept dying, and Xinetd kept restarting it. Thousands of times. Running Xvnc manually, I found it was failing to find the fonts. I tracked it down to a changed font path in the newer X server
Change: /usr/share/
To: /usr/share/
That solved my problem. Thanks to Chad Bisk for suggesting I run it by hand, and to Scott Carpenter for this post, with the proper font path:
