Comment 1 for bug 173261

I think I have the same problem. This is what I get when I run dpkg --configure -a after failed install of vmware-server with update manager:

stapel@stapel-laptop:~$ sudo dpkg --configure -a

   Virtual machine monitor failed
   Virtual ethernet failed

dpkg: error processing vmware-server (--configure):
 subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
