dell sputnik laptop upgrading to HWE 12.04.5: virtualbox-dkms 4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.6: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

Trying to upgrade my Dell Sputnik Laptop (XPS13 Haswell edition) to HWE 12.04.5 following the exact instructions here:

Returns some problems with the kernel upgrade process:
