Thanks for subscribing Dann, but I do not have much more to add other than that I've outlined this kind of issues in the discussion with Mustafa upfront. Sadly we didn't pre-identify this particular version thereof, but it belongs to the same category of issues.

I do not have a great alternative suggestion right now, but just wanted to mention a recent change as firmware selection dynamics have been a pain for many for too long. Upstream just today got this series [1] submitted which tries to address that through updates/changes this would not change anymore. It will not help the current situation, but it affects any long term plan or upstreaming thoughts.
