Quick update: It turns out that changing

  deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted

to

  deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted universe

in /etc/apt/sources.list and rerunning apt-get update makes everything work right for me again.
