Where do you set uvesafb for use in initrd?
I have the following line in my /etc/initramfs-tools/modules:
uvesafb mode=1024x768
Which gives me a perfect 1024x768 framebuffer on boot.
Maybe something in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/modules.d?
