No, that's ok; I've added a comment to the debian bug, and I probably won't do anything else with it; I've marked the bug
as triaged and added comemnts to the others - I suspect the right thing is to add both fixes, although it probably needs someone with some time to grope around the cu code and try some experiements to find out the real underlying cause.
