I get no recovery shell - or I have not realized that I'm in there already. (wouldn't I have to give a root password, which I do not have?!)

The main problem appears to be that I get the fsck failure _all the time_ since a few days, but it only appears on the first boot. Normally, the second try would run fsck actually, but do not report any problems (AFAICS).

But now things are different: I do not get a second try (AFAICS).

I'm not reporting a lot of different things - I just don't know what the root problem is.

After all, the "superblock last mount time is in the future" shouldn't cause a "UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY" - I've mounted the device from a live CD just before rebooting. Therefore, it's all related to the changelog entry of e2fsprogs I've quoted in the description maybe.
But, it should not "crash" so hard.

Also, I've done a manual fsck from the LiveCD, and rebooted. The result has been the same (at least in its outcome).
