I am using 12.04. Can't type anything into the passphrase prompt. Alt-F2 just shows a blank screen.
And as soon as I pres Alt-F? keys the password prompt disappears and I can't get it back again.

To get the password prompt I have to remove "splash quiet" from the boot config.
