Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

On a thin-client amd geode, usplash makes the terminal hang. When disabling usplash, the thin-client is working properly.

When connecting with SSH to the thin-client, we saw that chvt command seems to cause this wrong behavior.

I can confirm that bug on a WebDT thin client.
The Geode chip is: VGA compatible controller: National Semiconductor Corporation Geode GX2 Graphics Processor

When booting, the usplash boot screen displays correctly but when comes to the time to start the X server, only the progressbar remains on the screen and everything got stuck. I can still ssh in and see that X is trying to start on tty7. It makes that client unusable with usplash forcing us to create a second boot root with usplash disabled.

Thanks for finding a way to fix the issue (or at least disable usplash for that chipset).

The issue is solved in Jaunty. (But the geode X driver is broken, though it's a completely different bug).
