If 'acpi -v' isn't noticing that the battery is being charged, then the problem isn't in the indicator's label -- indicator-power gets its information from upower, so this can't be fixed at the indicator-power level unless the indicator is showing you something different from what you would see by running "upower --dump".

Moving up the food chain to upower in launchpad. :)
