I believe I was one of the first to report this bug.
after being frustrated for three days. i gave up and upgraded the system. Being a total novice to Linux/Ubuntu i took the simple way out
go to terminal.
type "sudo apt-get upgrade"
type password when prompted.
system wil then upgrade.
then you will have a working system. without the neat "control center" the system goes back to "PREFERENCES AND ADMINISTRATION"
