I would like to add something to this bug as well. I have been upgrading Breezy
every night (there were few kernel upgrades lately). I haven't seen the message
"you should reboot your PC...etc" after the kernel upgrade (that message popped
up a while back, but not lately). I rebooted my PC after each upgrade anyways -
the only weird thing that happened was the "bulb" kept popping up after each
reboot. When clicking on the "bulb" I would get an empty (no text in the box
whatsoever) message box. When I tried closing this update-notifier, it wouldn't
respond. After double-clicking the "bulb" the app would crash and display
another message box "do you want to notify developers of the bug etc.." That
would keep on happening on each reboot. After looking at reporting this bug, I
found it already reported here... I followed your directions and installed the
newest version 0.40.13 of update-notifier. I rebooted my PC and the "bulb"
popped up once again, BUT this time there was an actual text in the message box
(it had to do with new kernel installation - need to reboot etc.) So I rebooted
once again and this time "bulb" wasn't there anymore. I believe that you migh
have squashed that bug once and for all! I'll keep an eye on any future upgrades
and see if this happens again.

Thank you for your time and a nice fix!
