Yes, it is reproducable.

My Hardware: Acer Aspire 2930

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 2,00 GHz (Penryn, Sockel P, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB Cache)
Graphics: Intel GMA X4500 HD (533 MHz, 64MB Shared-Memory)

So it maybe might also be related to the general problems with Intel under the current Ubuntu?

I do have other problems with update-notifier-kde, too: It's often hanging and eating up to 40% of my CPU!!

(I do not even need it because I update everything by hand...)
