I found this bug while searching for cases forgotten for too long - sorry to all of you.
And after reading into the case I feel even worse that it was forgotten so long :-/
I know it is just a config file and one could just remove some of the /etc/update-motd.d files to adapt. Also pam config can be changed. All that will stay true, but I think this is worth improving the default experience a bit.
