I had the same problem as described here. When Xfce died, I hit CTRL + ALT +F2 to get to a console and ran "sudo dpkg --configure -a" like stocchero (only difference is I didn't reboot). This picked up from "Setting up libbonoboui2-0". After all the remaining configuration completed, I rebooted and now have a working 6.10.
